Winter Dormancy
On nurturing and cultivating the garden within
I have spent a lot of time thinking, planning, musing. Goals are important in the realm of the west. Doing, continue doing, decide, plan, decide. The future knocks on my door wondering what I am doing and I wonder about the past—I wonder about the present—who I am becoming. A faint light starts to emerge all around me, slowly growing, burning brighter, faster, stronger than before. A pulse rises and emerges from within stretching outwards like the wings of a California Condor. I am reborn.
Living in a world of fives, I lean into the notion that I must decide—but what is decision without a pause, without embracing the dormancy of the pause. Gladys looks around and awakens from her pause—I pause and gleam in delight. Someone catches my eye, I define, I decide.
So I sit here in a moment of pause, a moment of winter dormancy enjoying what is currently in front of me. New friends, new experiences, new pathways all emerging between the blank spaces of my calendar, the moments of pause.
My love grows and grows towards the person I am becoming. I lean into the unknown without answers. I leave it all up to the ways in which life moves in a circadian motion. Taking a slow inhale and release, I pause.
