So, I spent the majority of 2022 learning Portuguese and forgetting French. There is a beautiful feeling that arrives when I am able to start to fully understand and think in a language and shortly thereafter, a song arrives. This song, Oi Coitadinho is close to my heart, and I am so thankful that I am offered the gift of words from the spirits.
2023 is a year for creative expression, branching out and sharing the different versions of self, no matter how complex and multi-faceted they may be. 2023 is for grieving older versions of self that are no longer needed, and expanding into the world, leaning into the possibility that it is okay to take up as much space as I feel I can, simply because I can. 2023 is for learning to simplify, leaning into the beauty of doing nothing and taking more naps, and 2023 is for travel and exploring more parts of the world my eyes have yet to observe. 2023 is for better parenting, better loving, and being a better friend altogether, ensuring that I am a good friend to myself first. 2023 is for leaning into my intensity, my passion, and my drive to exist that propels me closer to who I wish to become in this lifetime. There is no more time to waste. The time is now, and I am showing up to the platforms to share my gifts that have been bestowed upon me.
This song came to me in one sitting and I spent some time curating my pronunciation with my Portuguese teacher who was impressed by my lyrics. I am thankful for my art and how it provides for me.
